This story is yet another, not unlike the Terri Schiavo case, where families are torn apart as they disagree over the best treatment for their father. The children say keep Daddy alive, the man's wife wants him dead.

He was injured and it resulted in paralysis and the need for a ventilator to keep him alive.

When the man was off his sedating meds for about 10 hours and thinking clearly, he was asked if he wanted to live, knowing the remainder of his life would be spent on a respirator...his answer was yes....However......

OFFICIALS RACE TO HEAD OFF A FLU PANDEMIC....

: "Michael Stebbins of the Federation of American Scientists and others challenged the suggestion as unworkable. 'It shows a fundamental lack of understanding of public health emergencies,' he says. 'I would be fascinated to see whether the president has a plan to quarantine a city like Washington, D.C., New York or Boston with so many roads in or out. Is he going to send in tanks and armed men?'

Scientific reports released on the heels of Bush's statement increased the nation's anxiety.
